Bruce Peninsula National ParkIn spring, you can almost tell the instant when entering the Bruce Peninsula with your eyes closed. As the air rushes through your car windows, it brings in a mixture of specific scents that grows only stronger while you are driving further away from the mainland. Thousands of cedars, pines, firs and other vegetation are sending their greetings, carried by a breeze from the lake, to fill your senses with an uncommon delight and tenderness. Despite our frequent travels to this location, every time we pass Wiarton our hearts start pounding a little quicker with the rising expectations. Dividing Lake Huron from Georgian Bay, Bruce Peninsula belongs amongst those places in Canada famous for their rare natural beauty and ecological importance. Dominated by the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment descending into the Georgian Bay, it offers a habitat to many precious wild flowers, thousands of years old cedars, and other unique plant species. Located at tip of the peninsula, Bruce Peninsula National Park presents some of the area's most spectacular trails, vistas, and other interesting features. Over the years, the park has been enjoyed tremendously by thousands of people, as there is something for everybody. Both the ardent followers of the Bruce Trail coming in the early spring and autumn, as well as the more leisurely oriented campers taking over during the summer months, arrive here for their brush with nature and a memorable experience. For a photographer, Bruce Peninsula National Park along with the rest of the peninsula is an earthly paradise abundant with endless possibilities. It will tempt all your senses and challenge your skills to capture at least some of the surrounding beauty with a matching eloquence. In winter, when back in the city, close your eyes and think of Bruce Peninsula. Imagine almost painfully white cobblestone beaches on a bright sunny day, gentle seclusions of the inland lakes, rock formations reminiscent of ancient temples cloaked in the fog ... then let the breeze usher in the scents of spring.
